What is the Paleo Diet?

The Paleo diet or The Caveman diet is a way of eating based on the types of foods presumed to have been eaten by early humans, consisting mainly of meat, fish, vegetables, fruit, and excluding dairy or grain products and processed food. Centralizing around modern foods that mimic the food groups of our pre-agricultural, hunter-gatherer ancestors.  Hunter-gatherer diets are considered to help to optimize your health, minimize your risk of chronic disease, and lose weight.

Yes. No more counting calories. No more obsessing over how many grams of a particular nutrient you’ve had. You simply remove certain types of food from your diet. Paleo can help you lose weight and build muscle due to the high protein intake.

What kinds of food should I eat?

EAT   😀

  • Grass-fed meats
  • Fish/seafood
  • Fresh fruits
  • Fresh vegetables
  • Eggs
  • Nuts
  • Seeds
  • Healthy oils (olive, walnut, flaxseed, macadamia, avocado, coconut)

DON’T EAT  😥

  • Legumes (including peanuts)

  • Refined sugar

Paleo Reviewed

I personally have found the Paleo Diet easier to stick to than other diets. Some diets are very limited on what you can eat and I stay hungry pretty much the whole time. I am a foodie and love to eat. I am also a big time carnivore. As long as it is on the list I can eat it. Knowing what you can or can’t eat up front make it easier when at the grocery store or meal planning.

Although the claim is no calories counting you still need to eat sensibly. However the foods that you can eat are wholesome and make you feel full longer than less nutrient dense foods.
