I am going to lay out some basic ground rules that will help you drop some pounds. When looking at starting any diet it is important that you stay realistic. Eat a High Protein Breakfast
I know, you have heard it all your life. “Don’t skip breakfast!” You know what? I agree. Here is the problem. I am not a morning person and I do not have time to even make a bowl of cold cereal before darting out out of the door for work. Studies have shown over and over again that eating a good nutritious breakfast will keep you metabolism from crashing and actually help your ability to concentrate throughout the day. Eggs are great with whole wheat toast but I save that for the weekend. Lately I have been drinking a glass of 1% or skim milk and eating a folded over peanut butter sandwich on whole wheat bread. Some days I will have a whey protein shake in the morning. Once I started doing this I noticed how much better I felt mid morning. Also when it’s time for your lunch break you are not in binge mode.
Cut Back on Starches and Sugars
I am sure you have heard by now that carbs are evil. Carbohydrates are actually very important in maintaining your metabolism. Stay with the good carbs like whole wheat. You can stay on track by looking at things white in color. Think about it. Sugar, Potatoes, White Bread, and even milk. Yes, milk has sugar. cut these things out of your diet. If you are a milk lover like I am. Just limit yourself. I use to hate whole wheat bread. But I tried some different brands and found that some brads are delicious and some taste like you are eating a sponge. Experiment! If you like your pasta. Look for whole wheat pasta. It usually is almost the same price and taste almost the same.
Drink Plenty of Water

Get Plenty of Sleep
Obviously if you don’t get enough sleep you will be tired. Will it really help me lose weight?
The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that normal sleepers’ resting energy expenditure (The amount of calories burned when you’re not moving.) was five percent higher than their tired counterparts.
